1957 Linemar Northwest DC-7, 4 Motor Airplane In Original Box

1957 Linemar Northwest DC-7, 4 Motor Airplane In Original Box

Gorgeous all tin-litho "Northwest DC-7, 4-Motor Airplane" manufactured by Linemar in Japan. Toy has friction drive motor and comes complete with its original box.

Handsome, sleek mid-50s era plane emerged just before the jet era. Northwest purchased their first DC-7C in 1957. The toy carries correct period logos; on the upright tail wing, rear fuselage sides and, of course, the Northwest name.

It's lithoed in red, white, two shades of blue, black, and silver. The wings have a brick-like blue pattern with red edging and silver undersides. The fuselage and wing separate using the attached metal clip. Turning of the solid rubber tires causes all four propellers to rotate simultaneously.

Several factors identify it as true high quality toy; solid rubber tires, all-metal propellers, engines have metal on both the top and undersides and accurate company logos used.

The box was illustrated with a beautiful overhead color image of the 4-Motor Airplane. The style in which it was drawn just "looks" 1950s. Front and rear aprons show the DC-7 from the underside. The side aprons show the plane in silhouette.

Size: Wingspan 13", Fuselage 11".
